I Need Your Attention
Have you ever sat through a really bad movie?

Stupid question. I think everyone has at one point or another.
With a movie we are invested. We subconsciously say “I’m going to dedicate 2 hours of my life to watch this and pay attention.”
After 30 minutes or so if the movie hasn’t sparked your interest then impatience settles in. Eventually you’ll reach the conclusion that you’re watching a dud. A bad piece of art. You sit through it anyways (unless you’re like me and will actually walk out of a theater) and welcome the ending credits. Waste of time. Waste of money.
With a blog article, a video, a song, or a podcast you don’t have the luxury of commitment. If you don’t grab your audiences attention immediately, they’re not going to stick around. If your heading isn’t strong, the first sentence won’t get read. If the first 10 seconds of your Vlog is boring, the remaining 5 minutes are irrelevant.
This is the internet as we know it. There are too many choices. If you’re not good. If your not on top of your game, you’re not going to win. If you want attention you need to come out of the gate strong. Grab my attention or I’ll click elsewhere.
